Lisa Colpoys leads the nationally-recognized nonprofit Illinois Legal Aid Online, which uses technology to lower barriers to the law so that people can understand their legal options, make informed decisions and represent themselves when they can’t afford a lawyer. As ILAO's Executive Director, Lisa cultivates innovation, guides strategy, fosters partnerships, and oversees management of the organization. Before ILAO, Lisa served as Director of Legal Services at CARPLS, Chicago’s legal aid hotline, and spent several years in private practice as a sole practitioner representing small businesses and individuals in a wide variety of legal matters. She is a Fellow of the College of Law Practice Management and serves on several national, statewide and local groups focused on technology, self-represented persons, and affordable legal services.
